INTIMATE FALL NUPTUALS
Fall is my favorite time of year. The crispness to the air, the changing colors of the landscape, the beautiful light that can be captured as the afternoon turns to evening. Needless to say, fall events are some of my favorite to plan, style and create.
When April Johnson with Ambiance asked Wichita Event Rentals to assist with Megan and Cole's Thanksgiving weekend wedding, I didnt have to event think about the answer - it was immediately YES! First off, working with April is always perfection. She and I have been doing events together for over 5 years. Together, we've produced galas, virtual events, weddings, pop-up parties and more. Secondly, when I found out this was going to be a fall, outdoor wedding for a very intimate guest count, I knew it would be a spectacular event.
April shared some inspiration photos with me, a list of the must-have items and then let us run free! The inspiration was a very lush, boho vibe with rich autumnal colors. The phrase "eclectic" kept coming up.
The first thing on the must have list was an opulent, lush arbor for the ceremony.
The event took place in the beautiful natural landscape of a family home. A firepit and patio served as the site for the ceremony. The architectural nature of the bare woodland behind the home served as the perfect backdrop to the arbor that was crafted by a family member.

Pulling from the inspiration photos, florals were selected to create the boho feel the bride wanted. King Protea, Heart Roses, Cafe Ole Roses, Magnolia, Italian Ruscus, multiple types of Eucalyptus, and Red Dogwood Branches were the stars of the floral palette. The King Protea were especially large, in full bloom and ready to be the star of the show.
Ambiance styled the arbor area with a thoughtful bar tray used to hole the ceremony necessities and an eclectic array of large format lanterns and baskets.
The venue location had a beautiful built in fireplace and patio area next to the pool. This allowed for a dramatic installation of fall florals and candles. This cozy set-up featured the addition of burnt orange winterberry to the existing floral palette.
One of my favorite pieces to add to an event are our custom made Edison Clouds. These rustic installation pieces are wired up and ready to showcase our Edison Pendants. The built in grid allows us to install floral stems, lights, ribbon and more to the piece. The upper shelf of the cloud is the perfect place to add a pop of glamor and floral. The clouds were a perfect accent for the couples head table. The farm table and boho chairs were coordinated through Ambiance and the centerpiece was designed in one of our Myriad Vessels - a sleek mirrored container perfect for florals or candles.
Guest tables were cozy rounds distanced to allow for covid-era dining. Black linen tablecloths matched with our Matte Black Chiavari Chairs with Black Chair Pads provided a striking backdrop for the boho-themed centerpieces. A duo of centerpiece styles looked lovely and matched the evening perfectly. A compote arrangement provided a touch of glitz while the trio of floating candles paired with a low votive-size arrangement filled out the guest tables. Dinner was enjoyed under the warm glow of candle and fun globe lighting.
Here is a look at part of the floral delivery for this event. Shown here in the processing stage, each stem and branch is inspected, properly prepared and sorted based on what arrangement or bouquet it will be used for. This process took an entire day. The complete floral package took three days to design and install. Much of the designing took place on-site as there were multiple large installation pieces for this event.
Working with a professional event planner, rental company and event florist makes all the difference in the world! The bride was able to enjoy the day, not having to worry about when vendors will be arriving, what details were overlooked or who was going to solve the questions that come up when preparing for an event. The homeowner was able to enjoy her guests and not have to worry about logistical details. The vendors that were to arrive and perform a task knew exactly what was expected and when to be there, what to do and how to do it.
I hope you enjoyed a look at this beautiful event. A huge shout out to April Johnson with Ambiance Events for asking us to be a part of this special day. The Wichita Event Rentals | DPG Team went above and beyond to make things a success for this sweet couple.
